Thomas Hardy, 84, has fallen in love with a Dorset woman in her 20s, playing Tess in the local amateur Hardy Players’ production. Hardy’s second wife, Florence, in her 40s, is driven into a jealous rage. Based on true events, this portrait of a love triangle and a marriage in extremis is dramatised by Simon Reade who previously adapted Private Peaceful, Pride & Prejudice and the screenplay of Journey’s End.
